Idaho Stampede News Release

Boise, ID (December 8, 2004) — For the second time in 14 days an NBA franchise has turned to the Idaho Stampede to strengthen its roster. Idaho forward Kaniel Dickens has signed with the New Jersey Nets, it was announced today by the Continental Basketball Association league office.

Dickens, the current CBA scoring leader, is expected to be in uniform Friday night when the Nets host the New Orleans Hornets. The signing marks the second Idaho Stampede-to-NBA call-up of the 2004-05 season after Britton Johnsen signed with the Indiana Pacers on November 25.

"NBA teams have had a strong interest in Kaniel since the beginning of the season, and we knew his getting a call up was a matter of time with the way he was performing for the Stampede," said Head Coach Joe Wolf. "This is a great opportunity for him and we wish him only the best with New Jersey."

Dickens, 6-8, 215-pounds, averaged 29.4 points per game and 9.6 rebounds per game for the Stampede. He was shooting 57 percent from the three-point line this season. The former Idaho Vandal was named CBA Western Conference Player of Week in late November.

The Stampede expects Johnsen to return to the team this week following a recent roster move by the Pacers. NBA veteran Jeff Foster was activated from Indiana's injured list yesterday, leading to the release of the 6-10 Johnsen.

The Stampede (4-4) returns to the Idaho Center for games Friday and Saturday, December 10 and 11, against the Gary Steelheads. It is the first trip to Idaho for Gary since last year's CBA playoffs, won by the Stampede.

Individuals and businesses interested in purchasing tickets for this weekend's games may contact the Idaho Stampede office at (208) 388-4667, the Idaho Center box office at (208) 442-3232, all Treasure Valley TCBY stores, Jack's Drive In in Caldwell, J n' J Corner Store in Payette or online at www.ictickets.com.
