Rockford, IL- After starting out the year averaging the most points per game in the CBA, the Rockford Lightning had their lowest scoring game of the year. They defeated the Michigan Mayhem last night to remain undfeated at the Rockford MetroCentre, 89-85.
The teams split the first half quarters, and at halftime the Mayhem led 46-45. The Bolts forced the Mayhem to 31 turnovers on the night, which included 18 steals. Brian Lubeck's free throws with a minute remaining sealed the victory for the Lightning. Rockford had four players in double figures; Brian Lubeck and Ronnie Fields led the scoring each scoring 19 points in the win. Fields also had eight steals on the night, and Jermaine Williams was the high rebounder with 9 in the ball game. Kevin Sweetwyne led the scoring for the Mayhem, pouring in 18 points in the loss. Rockford earned the four-point victory, improving their record to 3-4 for the year.
The Lightning return to the MetroCentre this Thursday night to face the Western Conference leading Sioux Falls Skyforce. Tip off is at 7:05 p.m., and the Dance Education Center will be performing at halftime.
