Rockford Lightning News Release

The 2006 CBA Rookie of the Year and Rockford Lightning starting forward is staying busy in the off-season both on and off the basketball court.

When the Lightning season ended last month as they fell just short of the CBA Finals, Powell returned home to continue to train for the NBA. Roger is returning to Rockford on Thursday, May 4th, as the featured speaker at the Rockford Area Leadership Prayer Luncheon that will be held from 11:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Giovanni's Restaurant. Long with being an exceptional athlete on the basketball floor, Powell is also an ordained minister. He is a Christian Speaker who has spoke at such events as the Governor's Prayer Breakfast last year and recently at the Rockford Christian Chapel. Tickets for the event this Thursday are $15 each. To purchase tickets contact Tammie at 316-7257 or email her at Tammief@johnsonpress.com.
