Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release
FRISCO, TX - For the second straight night, the Northwest Arkansas Naturals established control in the game early and did not look back, with an emphatic 12-4 win over the Frisco RoughRiders Saturday night.
Despite going down 1-2-3 against Rangers' top prospect Jack Leiter, the Naturals forced the right-hander out of the game in the third inning, rallying for four runs with two outs.
Leiter got two quick outs, but Nick Loftin drew a two-out walk, then Michael Massey reached on an error from Frisco second baseman Justin Foscue that prolonged the inning rather than ending it. Robbie Glendinning singled home Loftin, then John Rave doubled across Massey and Glendinning. Sebastian Rivero followed Rave with his own double two pitches later, with a walk to Nate Eaton being the dagger in Leiter's day.
Loftin singled across another run in the third inning, then Tucker Bradley blew the game open in the fifth with the Naturals' second grand slam in as many nights, an opposite field laser to left field, bringing home Rivero, Eaton and Means.
The Naturals added additional runs in each of the last three innings, as Eaton dashed home on a wild pitch in the seventh, Massey blasted his second homer in as many days out to center field in the eighth and Eaton tagged his first long ball of the year out to left in the ninth.
Eaton finished his day 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two walks, reaching base in all five plate appearances.
Rivero doubled twice, going 2-for-5 on the day, while Glendinning and Bradley each offered up two-hit nights as well. Eight different Naturals scored a run, while seven different players had hits and seven players drove in runs as well in the team effort.
Left-hander Dante Biasi made a spot start for the Naturals and delivered on the mound, pitching 4.0 scoreless innings, while striking out four.
Southpaw Walter Pennington was the first Natural out of the bullpen Saturday night, allowing one unearned run across 2.0 innings and was awarded the win in his Double-A debut.
Stephen Woods Jr. followed Pennington with two innings and Zach Willeman finished the game in the ninth, with a strikeout to end the game.
The Naturals look to win the series with the RoughRiders on Sunday at 4:35 p.m. CT in Frisco, with right-hander Alec Marsh making his second start of the week and third this season.
