Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release
SPRINGDALE, AR - The Northwest Arkansas Naturals won for the third straight game, hitting three home runs with 5.0 scoreless innings from the bullpen in a 9-3 win over the San Antonio Missions to spilt the series at home.
While the Missions struck starter Jonathan Bowlan for three runs in the second inning, he settled down to throw scoreless third and fourth innings.
San Antonio couldn't get anything across against the Naturals' bullpen either, as Emilio Marquez fired 3.0 scoreless frames to earn the win and Nate Webb pitched 2.0 scoreless as well to finish the game, retiring three of the last four he faced on strikeouts.
Luca Tresh brought the Naturals within one run in the second, as the catcher blasted a two-run home run down the left field line, his first Double-A homer.
Trailing by one in the third, Diego Hernandez dropped down a bunt single to open the inning and Tyler Gentry gave the Naturals the lead for good, as he connected on a two-run homer, his 13th with the Naturals this year, to make the score 4-3.
Northwest Arkansas didn't stop in the third after Gentry's home run, as Jake Means doubled home two, then scored on a wild pitch to cap the five-run inning, pushing the score to 7-3.
After Means led off the bottom of the fifth with a single, Tucker Bradley connected on a two-out home run to further extend the Naturals' lead, his second home run in as many days and ninth this season.
The Naturals will try and win their fourth straight game for just the second time this year as the Springfield Cardinals come to town Tuesday to open up a six-game series at Arvest Ballpark.
