
Naturals Fall in Series Finale, 5-0 to Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Northwest Arkansas Naturals (17-11) fell in their pursuit of three-straight series victories as the Springfield Cardinals (8-20) defeated the Naturals, 5-0 on Friday night at Hammons Field. Northwest Arkansas split the four-game series winning the first two and dropping the final two games.
The Springfield starter, right-hander Thomas Lee (2-2, 6.68) stymied the Naturals' bats all night working 8.2 innings of shutout baseball. Northwest Arkansas recorded just six hits off the 25-year old right-hander with Balbino Fuenmayor and Terrance Gore recorded two each. Fuenmayor extended his hitting streak to six game while Gore increased his to four on the season.
Left-hander Jonathan Dziedzic (1-2, 3.68) took the loss as he worked in and out of trouble for his 5.0 innings of work. The Humble, Texas native struck out five batter and walked just one has five runs crossed - four earned - against him as he surrendered nine hits.
Northwest Arkansas heads to North Little Rock, Ark. and opens up the latter portion of their eight-game road trip with a four-game series against in-state rivals, the Arkansas Travelers. Right-hander Andy Ferguson (3-0, 0.69) takes the ball in the opener against right-hander Alan Busenitz (1-1, 5.48).
