Drillers and Travs Rained Out
May 8, 2015 - Texas League (TL1)
Tulsa Drillers News Release
The Tulsa Drillers series finale with the Arkansas Travelers Friday night at ONEOK Field was officially rained out. The game was started and played into the third inning before being stopped and eventually postponed by the umpires.
With two outs in the top of the third, the Travelers' Brian Hernandez hit a fly ball into the outfield that Tulsa right fielder Yadir Drake misread. As he attempted to reverse direction, Drake slipped on the wet grass before chasing the ball down as Hernandez slid into third with a triple. At that point, the umpires decided to stop the game with the Drillers leading the Travelers 3-2.
After waiting for about 45 minutes, the game was officially postponed as rain continued to fall in downtown Tulsa.
Since this was the final game of the series, the game will now be played as part of a doubleheader when the Travelers next visit Tulsa from June 17-20. The exact date and time for the makeup will be announced later.
The game will have to be replayed form the start as all stats from Friday's three innings will be wiped out.
It is the first rainout at ONEOK Field this season.
Fans who had tickets to Friday night's game may exchange them for like tickets to any other 2015 regular season game at ONEOK Field, based on availability.
The Drillers will open a four-game series with Springfield Saturday night at ONEOK Field. The pitching matchup will feature Jeremy Kehrt (1-3, 4.68 ERA) for Tulsa against Arturo Reyes (0-0, 13.50 ERA) of the Cardinals. Starting time is scheduled for 7:05PM.
