Frisco RoughRiders News Release
FRISCO, TEXAS - For the second time in three days, the RoughRiders and Missions were suspended at Dr Pepper Ballpark as severe weather struck the Metroplex on Thursday night. The teams will resume a 3-3 ballgame in the top of the eighth inning on Friday at 5:35 p.m. before playing their regularly scheduled series finale at 7:05 p.m.
Fans with tickets to Friday night's game may also gain entry to the completion of the suspended game. The regularly scheduled game will not start before 7:05 and will be televised on Texas 47 (KTXD).
Thursday's game was delayed by an hour because of rain, but starting pitchers Alec Asher and Colin Rea were unfazed as both threw well despite the late start. The Riders took a 1-0 lead in the first inning thanks to an RBI fielder's choice off the bat of J.T. Wise, but San Antonio responded in the second on a run-scoring single by Luis Domoromo.
The contest remained knotted at 1-1 until the sixth when Nomar Mazara scored on a misplay at first base by Domoromo.
The Missions rallied in the seventh when Jason Hagerty and Domoromo supplied RBI knocks to make it 3-2 San Antonio. The Riders' deficit did not last for long, as Jake Skole led off the bottom of the frame with a pinch hit double and touched the plate on an error my shortstop Trea Turner.
In the eighth inning, the Missions put their first three men aboard on hits before heavy rains and a severe thunderstorm halted play. The game will pick up with Hunter Renfroe batting in an 0-1 count with no outs, the bases loaded and the scored tied at 3-3.
Following the conclusion of Thursday's game, Andrew Faulkner (2-1, 4.50) will match up against Bryan Rodriguez (1-4, 5.93) in Friday's regularly scheduled game. Friday's game has been sold out, but for tickets to other Riders games this season, please call 972-731-9200, e-mail info@RidersBaseball.com or visit www.RidersBaseball.com.
