Frisco RoughRiders News Release

FRISCO, TEXAS - The Frisco RoughRiders welcomed a completely sold-out crowd to Dr Pepper Ballpark for the series finale against the San Antonio Missions on Friday. Joey Gallo hit his second home run of the season but the Riders fell 12-2.

Prior to the originally scheduled game, the two teams finished Thursday's rain-suspended contest, which was picked up in the eighth inning. San Antonio capitalized on a bases-loaded-no-outs situation when the game resumed on Friday. Yeison Asencio's sacrifice fly scored Travis Jankowski and the Missions held on for a 4-3 win.

Less than an hour later, the two teams played in front of the largest crowd in Dr Pepper Ballpark history. Completely sold out in advance of the game, 11,915 fans were on hand for the Riders' Friday night finale.

Starter Andrew Faulkner (2-2) was touched for a five run third inning in which the Missions sent 10 hitters to the plate. Five different hitters recorded an RBI as four singles helped give the Missions a 5-0 lead. The left-hander lasted five innings allowing five earned runs on seven hits in his second loss of the season.

Bryan Rodriguez (2-4) was effective in round two against Frisco, earning his second win of the season. Rodiriguez, who had lost four consecutive starts to begin the season, has now notched two consecutive wins. He held the Riders to two runs and five hits over 6 1/3 innings.

Trea Turner drove in four runs with a four hit day that included a home run in the seventh inning off Edwar Cabrera to give San Antonio a 6-1 lead.

Gallo put the Riders on the board in the seventh inning as he placed his second homerun of the year over the left field fence. The Riders added one more in the frame as Nick Williams extended his hitting streak to five games with an RBI-single, scoring J.T. Wise.

The Missions extended their lead in the eighth inning to 12-2, plating six. Turner's fourth hit of the game knocked in two of the runs and he would later score on Hunter Renfroe's second home runs of the season.

The Riders fell to 0-8 in series finales while dropping to 12-16 overall.

Frisco heads to Midland for a four game set starting tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. before returning to Dr Pepper Ballpark for an eight game home stand on May 14 against the Corpus Christi Hooks (Double-A, Houston Astros) and Midland RockHounds (Double-A, Oakland Athletics). Frisco sends RHP Jake Thompson (2-2) to the mound against RHP Jake Sanchez (1-2). Thursday, May 14 is another "Thirsty Thursday," and "Groovy Grubesday" so fans can enjoy $1 domestic beers and Dr Pepper products from 6 - 8 p.m. For tickets to see the Riders this season, please call (972) 731-9200, e-mail Info@RidersBaseball.com or visit www.RidersBaseball.com.
