Naturals Continue 2015 Dominance of Travs

North Little Rock, AR - The Arkansas Travelers fell to 1-12 against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals after a 3-1 loss at Dickey-Stephens Park on Sunday.

The Naturals scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning which paced them for the rest of the game.

Outside of the fourth, RHP Kyle McGowin was extremely effective for the Travs on Sunday, striking out a season-high nine batters. In total, McGowin tossed 6.2 innings and allowed the three runs on four hits with three walks and the career-high tying nine punch outs.

RHP Nate Hyatt worked 1.1 scoreless innings after McGowin and RHP Danny Reynolds finished the game with a perfect ninth.

1B Wade Hinkle went 2-for-4 for Arkansas with two doubles. The second of his two doubles put runners on second and third with one out in the sixth, but Arkansas did not plate a run.

The lone Travs run scored in the fifth on a 2B Sherman Johnson RBI groundout.

Johnson reached base twice with two walks, and now has 50 base on balls drawn this season.

CF Jared Mitchell finished 2-for-4.

INF Brian Hernandez did not play for the first time this season.

The two teams combined to hit 1-for-14 with runners in scoring position.

With the loss, Arkansas fell to 35-33 with one game to play in the first half.

The Travs and Naturals will play game two of the four-game series on Monday at Dickey-Stephens Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
