Nats Improve to 10-0 vs. Travs in '15

Springdale, AR - The Arkansas Travelers fell to 0-10 against Northwest Arkansas after a 9-6 Naturals win on Sunday afternoon at Arvest Ballpark.

Arkansas led 1-0, 2-1 and 4-2, but Northwest Arkansas countered in every half inning following a Travs run scoring. Trailing 4-2 with nobody on and two outs in the fifth, seven consecutive Naturals reached with five players scoring to go up 7-4.

The Nats hit two more home runs on Sunday to extend their count to 15 in 10 games against Arkansas, and 64 total on the season. The Travs have hit 18 total home runs with no player launching more than three.

CF Jared Mitchell blasted his first home run within the Angels organization in the third inning to put Arkansas up 1-0. Mitchell finished 2-for-3 with the home run and three runs scored.

2B Sherman Johnson extended his hitting streak to 7 straight games and finished 3-for-5 with two runs, a double and an RBI. Johnson has reached base in 17 of his last 30 plate appearances.

DH Brian Hernandez drove in two more runs on Sunday and extended his league-leading total to 46. Hernandez leads Naturals infielder Balbino Fuenmayor by nine RBIs.

LF Blake Gailen went 3-for-5 with a double and is 6-for-17 in four games with Arkansas.

RHP Kyle McGowin (L, 4-4) surrendered a season-high seven runs on six hits over 4.2 innings. McGowin walked five and struck out three.

RHP Austin Adams worked the seventh and was the lone Travs pitcher not to allow a run.

Arkansas has had a lead in the fifth inning or later in each of its last four road games and has lost all four games.

The Travs fell to 5.5 games behind the Naturals with the loss.

At 31-30, the last time Arkansas was one game over .500 was 1-0 on April 10.

The Travs and Naturals will play game three of the four-game series on Monday at Arvest Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
