MIDLAND, TEXAS (June 14, 2015) - Chad Oberacker scored four runs as the Midland RockHounds snapped their eight game losing streak with a 8-0 win against the Frisco RoughRiders on Sunday night at Security Bank Ballpark. Jose Leclerc dropped his third straight decision, lasting just two innings before Joe Mikulik went to the bullpen.
Drew Robinson led off the top of the first inning with a base hit, but was immediately picked off by Nate Long (4-4). Long dealt 7 2/3 scoreless innings and improved to 3-0 in three starts against Frisco this season. In 20 innings, the Riders have managed just two runs against the right-hander from Fort Worth, Texas.
The Rockhounds (30-32) plated three runs in their half of the first, with some help from the visiting team. Oberacker led off with a double to left, and later scored when Leclerc (2-4) committed his second balk of the season. A two-out walk to Matt Olsen led toRenato Nunez's eighth home run.
Midland added another run in the second when a two out single was followed by three consecutive walks to bring home Oberacker, and Frisco trailed 4-0 after two innings. Riders' pitching dealt 10 walks throughout the contest.
The Riders (27-35) left the bases loaded in the third and eighth innings and failed to capitalize on leadoff singles in the fourth and fifth innings. The RockHounds pounced for another run in the fourth against Victor Payano when Matt Olsen knocked home Oberacker to make it 5-0. Nunez picked up his third RBI of the contest with a double in the sixth to put Midland ahead 6-0, and the RockHounds scored a run in both the seventh and eighth innings to run away with a 8-0 victory. Midland scored a run in all but two offensive innings after scoring just one run in their last two games.
The loss is the first for the Riders in their last five games. The two teams will duel again on Monday at 6:30 p.m. Frank Lopez (2-0) toes the rubber for Frisco and the RockHounds counter with Tim Atherton (2-3). The RoughRiders return to Dr Pepper Ballpark on June 21 for a four game set against Midland.
