CORPUS CHRISTI - Northwest Arkansas held the Hooks to a pair of singles in a 4-0 victory Thursday night at Whataburger Field.
Corpus Christi was confined to seven base runners. Will Wagner reached base three times thanks to two walks and a two-out base hit in the first.
Zach Daniels was hit by a pitch in the third before whipping a line drive single into center in the eighth. Walks by Luis Aviles Jr., Chad Stevens and Bryan Arias accounted for the remaining traffic.
Hooks lefty Julio Robaina blanked Northwest Arkansas while facing two over the minimum thru the first three innings. Doubles by Peyton Wilson and Jorge Bonifacio opened the fourth, leading to a three-run frame, which was capped by a Tucker Bradley home run.
Adrian Chaidez, in his second appearance since returning from the injured list, worked two scoreless innings in relief. Cesar Gomez recorded three ground balls while facing three batters in the eighth.
Tyler Brown notched a strikeout to end the ninth, leaving runners at second and third.
