Nashville SC News Release

FRISCO, Texas - Nashville SC made club history with its first ever Major League Soccer win over FC Dallas 1-0 on Wednesday night at Toyota Stadium. In a hard-fought, back-and-forth contest during the teams' inaugural meeting, the Music City club earned its first victory as an expansion team after striker David Accam took on defenders in the box and fired a low far-post shot that found the back of the net in the 86th minute.

After a five-month-long hiatus, Accam's late goal secured all three points for a club that has overcome a lot in 2020, including the COVID-19 pandemic and departure from the MLS is Back tournament.

Possession remained even-keeled in the first half as both teams adjusted to being back on the field after months away. FC Dallas took its chances in front of goal first as Franco Jara shot straight from outside the box in the 19' minute for an easy save by Nashville's Joe Willis. Randall Leal responded in kind minutes later for Nashville after a quick counterattack led by Hany Mukhtar led to a searing strike from the top of the box that was deflected over the goal by Dallas's Jimmy Maurer.

The second half played out much like the first with a back and forth competition and a few close calls for both sides until Accam's strike with four minutes left in regulation time sent Nashville over the edge for the win. Willis came up with clutch saves throughout the second half, and the Boys in Gold held onto their lead through injury time to record a historic win.
