Cincinnati RailRaiders News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - NASCAR Winston Cup driver Ricky Craven will make a special appearance when the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks host the Chicago Wolves at 11:05 a.m. for Hockey Recess II Wednesday, November 19 at Cincinnati Gardens.
Presented by the Cincinnati Enquirer's Newspapers in Education department and P&G's Tide Brand, the second annual Hockey Recess game will feature a day of learning and fun. Lesson plans distributed in advance of the event and designed by Newspapers in Education will center around learning outcomes necessary for success on state proficiency tests. The five areas featured in the complimentary teachers guide, as well as fun quiz questions on the Gardens scoreboard throughout the game, are writing, reading, math, science and citizenship.
"Hockey Recess is a fantastic learning experience for our Greater Cincinnati school children, educators and parents," said David Ziegler, vice president of sales for the Mighty Ducks. "In addition to this being a unique learning experience, one lucky class will have the opportunity to watch the game in a suite with one of NASCAR's most popular drivers, Ricky Craven."
Craven, who drives the No. 32 Tide Ford for PPI Motorsports and team owner Carl Wells, was the first driver to earn Rookie of the Year titles in three major NASCAR touring series: 1990, 1992 and 1995. His third season behind the wheel of the "Tide Ride" in 2003 has resulted in one win, three top-5's and seven top-10's.
All tickets are specially priced at $7.00 (or $10.00 with a box lunch) when purchased through the Mighty Ducks Ticket Sales Department by November 3. The Mighty Ducks will donate $2.00 from each ticket to Newspapers In Education.
