IceCats Receive Three More From St. Louis

WORCESTER, MA – St. Louis Blues Senior Vice President and General Manager Larry Pleau today announced that the club assigned forwards Steve McLaren, Greg Black and Mike Glumac to the Worcester IceCats.

A native of Owen Sound, Ontario, McLaren skated in 40 games with the IceCats last season, recording 80 penalty minutes. The rugged left winger has appeared in 98 games with the ‘Cats over the last two seasons, registering four assists and 331 penalty minutes: 98(0/4/4)331. The former 1994 draft choice of the Philadelphia Flyers has played in 262 career American Hockey League games over the past five seasons, tallying eight goals, 10 assists and 971 penalty minutes: 262(8/10/18)971.

Prior to the Blues Training Camp, the 22 year old Black skated the 2002-2003 season for the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League (WHL). In 71 contests, the Surrey, British Columbia-born Black had 36 goals, 27 assists and 203 penalty minutes: 71(36/27/63)203. The 6-0 center was tied for second on the team with those 36 gals and was ranked second in the WHL in penalty minutes. In 258 career games for Seattle, he has amassed 80 goals, 63 assists and 700 PIM's. Black was signed by the Blues as a Free Agent on March, 20, 2002.

Glumac spent a majority of the 2002-2003 season with the South Carolina-based Pee Dee Pride of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). He led the team in scoring with 37 goals and finished second in overall scoring with 69 points. The right-handed forward also appeared in two contests for the Cleveland Barons (AHL), recording no points. Glumac is a native of Niagara Falls, Ontario

The Blues currently have 38 players in camp – 21 forwards, 13 defensemen and four goaltenders.

The IceCats will play three exhibition games this weekend, including Sunday at 6 PM at Fitchburg's Wallace Civic Center.

The IceCats will open their 2003-2004 regular season at home on Saturday, October 11th against the Providence Bruins.
