Checkers To Offer Skills & Development Camp

(Charlotte, NC - Thursday, September 25, 2003) - The Charlotte Checkers and HOCKEYSCHOOL.com will combine to offer a very unique skills and development camp at Cricket Arena in October and November for hockey players of all ages and skill levels. Current Checkers Assistant General Manager and Assistant Coach Derek Wilkinson, and former Checkers and National Hockey League player, Mike Hartman, will provide the expert instruction.
"We're excited to offer a "first of its kind" camp to hockey players from the Metrolina area," quotes Wilkinson. "With the lack of ice time and number of facilities available in the area for players to hone their skills, our development camp will give hockey players of all ages and skill levels an opportunity to get better in a professional and fun atmospher! e." ECHL / PHPA COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT UPDATE: (Princeton, New Jersey - September 24, 2003) - The ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players' Association have been engaged in negotiations for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement since Wednesday, September 24, 2003. The negotiations are continuing. It is expected that these negotiations will continue through the weekend. No further comment is anticipated until Monday, September 29, 2003.
WILKINSON ON TV: Checkers Assistant General Manager & Assistant Coach Derek Wilkinson appeared on a television show Wednesday called Operation S.E.L.F., sponsored by the Mecklenburg County Library Association. The show was taped ! Wednesday at the Cornelius branch of the Mecklenburg County Library System. The TV talk show featured students between the ages of 12 an 25.
NATIONAL ANTHEM TRYOUTS - PART 2: Due to the overwhelming response from last week's Checkers National Anthem auditions, another audition will be held at Cricket Arena Thursday, September 25 @ from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Call Adam Pirttima for further information at (704) 444-1887.
CHECKERS TICKETS: All regular season individual game tickets and preseason game tickets are on sale. Tickets may be purchased at the Cricket Arena Box Office, the Charlotte Coliseum Box Office, and all Ticketmaster locations. Tickets may also be purchased by phone by using a credit card and calling Ticketmaster at (704) 922-6! 500, and through the Internet at www.ticketmaster.com.
Individual game tickets for the 2003-04 season are priced at $7.00 for balcony seats, $10.00 for end mezzanine seats, $12.00 for side mezzanine seats, $15.00 for circle seats, and $20.00 for box seats.
All tickets for the Checkers / Columbia Inferno preseason game at Cricket Arena on Monday, October 13 at 7:00 p.m. are reserved and priced at $5.00. Checkers full season ticket holders will receive their tickets for free. Parking for the preseason game at Cricket Arena will be FREE for ALL fans on October 13.
Season Tickets, mini plans and group tickets remain on sale through the Checkers office. Season tickets start as low as $245.00. Further information can be obtained by calling the Checkers office at (704) 342-4423.
The Checkers will begin their 11th season in the ECHL with the regular season and home opener Saturday, October 18 at 7:30 p.m. hosting the Gwinnett (GA) Gladiators at Cricket Arena.
