Myrtle Beach Pelicans Game Notes

July 9, 2011 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release

CONSISTENCY COUNTS: In addition to receiving reliever Ryan Rodebaugh this week, the Pelicans made another roster move Saturday. Infielder Mitch Hilligoss has been promoted to Double-A Frisco, and the Pelicans have received infielder/outfielder Jonathan Roof from the Hickory Crawdads. With those two moves, the Pelicans have now made 32 player transactions this season including DL moves, promotions, and transfers. For comparison's sake, while under the Atlanta Braves last season, the Pelicans made 35 player moves in the month of May alone. Myrtle Beach made 114 total player transactions in 2010.

INJURY UPDATE: In Wednesday's series opener, the Pelicans lost both shortstop Leury Garcia and first baseman Chris McGuiness to injuries. McGuiness felt a twinge in his knee after getting into the dugout following his third-inning single, and Garcia pulled up lame after legging out an infield knock in the top of the fourth inning. As of Friday, McGuiness has been placed on the disabled list (knee). The Pelicans will receive promoted reliever Ryan Rodebaugh from Hickory (A). Garcia is day-to-day with a groin problem but was taking swings in the batting cage prior to the Pelicans series-evening win over the Dash on Thursday night.
