Norfolk Tides News Release
Neal Musser carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning, pitching the Tides past the Rochester Red Wings 1-0 in front of 9,780 fans Monday night at Harbor Park.
Musser (2-2) did not allow a hit until Augie Ojeda singled up the middle with two outs in the sixth inning. The left-hander walked two and struck out two, helping the Tides (32-27) win their third straight contest over the Red Wings.
Tim Hamulack relieved Musser and hurled 1.2 shutout innings, while David Lee picked up the final five outs for his third save of the year. Lee has not allowed an earned run since April 27th (A span of 15.1 innings).
Norfolk got all the runs they would need in the bottom of the fifth inning, as Rodney Nye homered into the left field picnic area off of Rochester starter Dave Gassner (4-3). The home run extended Nye's hitting streak to five games, and improved the Tides to 20-10 at Harbor Park this season.
The Tides take on the Durham Bulls on Tuesday night at Harbor Park in the first game of a four game series. The teams will play two games in Norfolk before finishing the series with two games in Durham.
