Lynx Rally Back To Top Bulls 5-4

The Ottawa Lynx rallied back from a 4-0 deficit and Tim Raines Jr. scored the winning run in the bottom of the 9th on a wild pitch as the Ottawa Lynx defeated the Durham Bulls 5-4 in Monday action. Raines Jr. was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI for the Lynx, who took three of four from the Bulls and improved their record to 29-26. A crowd of 2,864 fans went home happy from Monday morning's matchup.

Player of the Game: Tim Raines Jr. played a key role in all three Lynx rallies, driving in two runs in the seventh,and scoring the winning run in the bottom of the 9th.

Key Plays: With the Lynx trailing 4-2 with two out and two runners on in the 7th inning, Raines Jr. lined a drive into the left field corner which scored both runners and tied the game.

Recap: The Bulls came out swinging in the fourth and final game of this four game set, scoring single runs in the 3rd and 4th, and adding two more runs in the top of the 5th off of Lynx starter Dave Borkowski to take a 4-0 lead. The Lynx cut the lead in half in the bottom of the sixth inning as Tim Raines Jr. led off with a single and two outs later Walter Young blasted his fifth homer of the year to right, cutting the deficit to 4-2. Ottawa would even the score with a two out rally in the seventh. Ed Rogers got things started with a double to left, and a Bernie Castro walk set the stage for Tim Raines Jr. Raines Jr. was up to the challenge, lining a double into the left field corner to score both Rogers and Castro to knot the game at 4-4. Ottawa completed the comeback in the bottom of the ninth. It was Raines Jr. again lining a one-out single to right to start the rally. With Raines Jr. running on the pitch, Midre Cummings lined a pitch to center moving Raines to third. With runners on first and third and one out, the Bulls decided to have Matt Carnes pitch to Alejandro Freire. With a 1-1 count on Freire, Carnes uncorked a wild pitch, allowing Raines Jr. to score from third with the winning run.
