Sioux City, IA - Nick Rivera scored his 10th goal of the season in the second period, however, it was the Sioux City Musketeers coming away with a 4-1 victory over the Omaha Lancers in front of 4,284 at the Tyson Events Center on Thursday night.

Sioux City took an early lead, less than one minute into the game. Nick Rivers moved through the neutral zone and was tripped up at the blue line, turning the puck over. After a quick transition by the Musketeers, Connor Valesano took a drop pass and sent a wrist shot by the blocker pad of Lancers goaltender Zack Skog. The goal was Valesano's third of the season and came just 0:49 into the game with helpers from Matt Steeves on the drop pass and CJ Dodero.

In the second period, great passing and a second chance helped the Lancers tie the game. Jacob Bryson took the puck from the blue line and dished off a pass to Nathan Krusko in the hash marks above the crease. Musketeers' goaltender Cam Gornet sprawled to his right, denying Krusko. Nick Rivera followed up punching the puck into the net to tie the game on his 10th goal of the year. Assists were given to Bryson and Krusko at 11:20 of the middle frame. The assist was Bryson's team-leading 15th of the year.

Minutes later, a good bounce in favor of Sioux City helped them regain their lead. Nick Jenny was forced back into his own zone trying to break up a two-on-one rush. Evan Wisocky sent a pass intended for his teammate, however, the puck caromed off the skates of Jenny and into the net with just 4:47 to go in the second period. The goal was Wisocky's first in just seven games with assists from Brady Ferner and Teemu Pulkkinen.

In the third period, the power play came through for the Musketeers to take a two-goal lead. Eeli Tolvanen took a pass and left a slap shot go that beat Zack Skog on the glove side for a 3-1 lead. The goal was Tolvanen's 10th of the year and came at 7:55 of the third period. With the net empty late, Josh Wilkins tapped in an empty-net goal to seal a 4-1 victory for the Musketeers.

Omaha Lancers' goaltender Zack Skog stopped 27 of 30 shots in the loss.

The Lancers return home this Saturday to face the Des Moines Buccaneers at Ralston Arena. Puck drops at 7:05 p.m. Can't make it?
