Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release

Muskegon, MI - The Chicago Steel used a three goal second period, and three goal third period, to knock off the Muskegon Lumberjacks 8-4.

It was a high scoring first period, with the Steel getting on the board first. The leading Chicago scorer, Jake Jaremko, lifted the puck past Lumberjacks goaltender Joey Daccord, to give the Steel an early 1-0 lead. The Lumberjacks would quickly respond with a pair of power play goals. Rem Pitlick extended his scoring streak to eight games with a wrist shot from the top of the circle. Trevor Hamilton and Collin Adams registered the assists on the goal. A couple minutes later, Mitch Eliot ripped a shot from the blue line in the back of the net, to give the Lumberjacks a 2-1 lead. However, late in the first period, Tanner Laczynski tied the game 2-2.

The Steel took the momentum into the start of the second period. Chicago netted three unanswered goals from Marc Johnston, Ruslan Rakhmatov, and Max Zimmer, to take a 5-2 lead at the end of the second period.

After the Steel scored early in the third period to make it 6-2, the Lumberjacks netted two goals, 24 seconds apart, to cut the deficit in half. Pitlick wristed his second of the game from Nate Kallen. Dante Palecco blasted home his fourth of the season, with Logan Drevitch notching the assist on the goal. The Steel would score two more times to end the third period, and defeat the Lumberjacks 8-4.

The Muskegon Lumberjacks (12-11-3) will look to rebound next weekend, when they return to action on January 8th, against the Bloomington Thunder (15-9-3). Puck will drop at 8:00 p.m. On Saturday January 9th, Muskegon will host the Bloomington Thunder on their Star Wars night.
