Greensboro Generals News Release

Greensboro, NC -- The Greensboro Generals improved to 5-4-2 on the season with a 5-3 victory over the PeeDee Pride. The Generals got a huge lift from team captain Jay Murphy, returning from injury that kept him out of the last four games, recording the team's second hat trick in the last week.

Murphy scored the first goal of the night with 1:19 remaining in the first period with the Generals trailing 2-0, on assists from Geno Parrish and Ole Kjenstad. Murphy would add his second goal of the night, putting Greensboro ahead 3-2, just 6:18 into the final period. Murphy, now with five goals on the season, would cap off the night with empty net goal with under a minute to play in the contest, and sending the crowd of 3,466 into a frenzy.

Also contributing tonight for Greensboro was Mark Turner, who scored his second goal of the season. Sam Ftorek would add the other Generals goal, on a power play, with 3:46 remaining. Rightwinger Pete Gardiner made contributions with two assists on the night, as did leftwinger Ole Kjenstad with a contribution of two assists.

The Generals will host seven of the next eight games at the Greensboro Coliseum, the next being November 14th facing the Trenton Titans with a 7:00 game time. This will be an opportunity for fans to participate in the $1 Thirsty Thursday.
