GREENSBORO GENERALS

The Generals fell to the Roanoke Express 6-4 last night on the road. Greensboro found themselves in an early 3-0 hole in the first period, but Chris Bell's power play goal closed the gap to 3-1. Roanoke regained a three goal advantage, only to have the Generals storm back again on Kurt Drummond's first goal of the season before the first intermission. Greensboro drew within one at 4-3 on a Matt Turek goal in the second period, but the Express scored a crucial insurance goal early in the third. Bell's second goal of the night gave the Generals a chance in the closing minutes, but an empty net goal sealed the win for Roanoke.

PEE DEE PRIDE

The Pride defeated the Richmond Renegades 5-2 last night at home. Rookie Mike Glumac put the Pride on top just six minutes into the contest, but the Renegades tied the score before the end of the period. Pee Dee regained the lead on a Ryan Knox tally, only to have the Renegades even the score once again early in the third period. The game was decided in the final seven minutes of the contest, when the Pride reeled off three unanswered goals from B. J. Adams, Matt Reid, and an empty net score from Greg Schmidt to pull away for the victory. Ron Vogel earned the win in net, stopping 23 of 25 shots on the evening..

RECENT TRANSACTIONS

¨ 11/4 Placed defenseman Alex Andreyev on the 7-day injured list.

¨ 11/9 Activated right wing Jay Murphy from the 7-day injured list.

¨ 11/9 Placed right wing Matt Chandler on the 7-day injured list.

¨ 11/5 Traded defenseman Lou Mass to the Louisiana IceGators for future considerations.

¨ 11/8 Activated center Gregor Krajnc from the 7-day injured list.

NOTES & NUMBERS

¨ Starting tonight, seven of the next eight Generals' games are at home.

¨ Chris Bell has scored seven goals in the last four games.

¨ Sam Ftorek is tied for the league lead with six power play goals.

¨ The Generals are six for their last eleven on power play opportunities (54.5%).

¨ The Pride have won five straight games, the longest current winning streak in the league.

¨ Pee Dee leads the league with 4.36 goals per game and is second in the league in goals against at 2.45.

¨ Matt Reid and Greg Schmidt are first and second in the league in plus/minus at +16 and +11 respectively.

¨ Mike Glumac is tied for the league lead amongst rookies with eight goals.

ABOUT THE GAME

Tonight is the second of four meetings between the Generals and Pride, and the final one here at the Greensboro Coliseum. The Generals fell to Pee Dee 4-2 on Halloween night. In twelve all-time meetings, the Generals have only beaten the Pride once, with David Whitworth scoring in overtime for a 2-1 triumph last December. The Generals and Pride don't face each other again until Greensboro goes to Florence, SC for a weekend set on March 14 & 15. Don't forget fans, you can also tune into all home games in the Coliseum on closed circuit radio (96.5 FM), with Arley Johnson handling the play-by-play.

NEXT HOME GAME: The Generals host their divisional foe Trenton Titans next Thursday at 7:00 and again on Friday night at 7:30. Thursday's contest is a "Thirsty Thursday" sponsored by R. H. Berringer, with all Anheuser-Busch drafts selling for just one dollar. There is a food drive to benefit Greensboro Urban Ministry and the Winston-Salem Crisis Control Ministry for Friday's game. All fans who bring in a canned food item will receive two dollars off their admission. All games can be heard on WPET 950-AM.

THE FRONT LINE: WPET 950-AM will also air the Greensboro Generals coaches show The Front Line this Monday and every Monday from 6:00 – 7:00. The show will feature Generals head coach Rick Adduono and Arley Johnson live from Jack Astor's Bar and Grill on High Point Road. Generals players will appear weekly on the show, tickets will be given away at Jack Astor's, and fans have the opportunity to ask coach Adduono all the tough questions they want.
