
Murphy Leads Stampede Comeback over D-Fenders

BOISE, Idaho - A night after Terrence Williams sets the league high with 50 points, Kevin Murphy answered with 51 points in a 127-123 Stampede victory over the Los Angeles D-Fenders. The Stampede were down as much as 23 points in the first quarter before making their way back into the game.
The D-Fenders came out hot in the first quarter shooting 17-26 (65%) and led by as many as 23 points. Idaho answered in the second quarter by outscoring Los Angeles 39-27. Kevin Murphy tallied 31 points in the first half as the Stampede trailed 60-66. A strong third quarter gave Idaho a 96-92 lead heading into the final period.
With 2:35 left in the fourth quarter, Stampede forward EJ Singler broke a 118-118 tie with a 3-pointer. Los Angeles answered with a quick bucket by Travis Hyman followed by a 3-pointer from Terrence Williams. Idaho guard Dee Bost made a lay-up with 1:14 left in the quarter, tying the game at 123. Bost then grabbed a rebound off a Terrence Williams missed jumper and took it coast to coast for the lay-up and a 125-123 lead with 49 seconds to go. Los Angeles had plenty of chances to tie the game with three consecutive offensive rebounds but failed to tie the game up. Kevin Murphy finished the game at the free throw line as Idaho took the 127-123 win.
Murphy led the way with 51 points and eight rebounds for the Stampede, setting a new league season-high in points. Dee Bost recorded his second consecutive triple-double with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Pierre Jackson dished out a career-high 18 assists in his second straight game with 10 or more assists. Dallas Lauderdale posted his fifth double-double of the season with 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Los Angeles had five players in double figures, led by Terrence Williams' 26 points and nine rebounds. Brandon Costner added 20 points off the bench for the D-Fenders who shot 50-101 from the floor as a team.
The Idaho Stampede (15-12) will host Texas on Tuesday, Feb 4 for their next game. The Los Angeles D-Fenders (15-11) return home on Wednesday, Feb 5 when they play Bakersfield.
