Jam Fall to Warriors

BAKERSFIELD - The Bakersfield Jam (10-17) were defeated on the road Saturday night by the Santa Cruz Warriors (16-11), 110-105.

JamesOn Curry led the Jam in the first half with 14 points (3/5 3FGs), but Santa Cruz shot better from the floor (44%-39%) and took a 51-45 lead at intermission. Santa Cruz extended their lead to as many as 10 points in the third quarter and went into the final frame with an 81-72 advantage over the Jam. The Warriors controlled most of the fourth quarter and although Bakersfield was able to cut their deficit to just one point (98-97) with 1:37 left, Santa Cruz was able to hold on for the victory.

Overall, the Jam shot better from the field (44.6%-40.9%), held the advantage in rebounds (58-45) and points in the paint (50-26), but unfortunately ended the game with more turnovers (22-14).

Curry finished with 20 points and nine assists while Ike Diogu also scored 20 points for the Jam. Bakersfield had three players who recorded a double-double: Damion James (18 points, 11 rebounds), Billy Baptist (18 points, 11 rebounds) and Mac Koshwal (12 points, 16 rebounds).

The Warriors were led by Golden State Warriors assignee Kent Bazemore who posted a game-high 25 points. Seth Curry had 22 points and five assists while Dominic McGuire recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Bakersfield will next travel to Los Angeles for a match against the D-Fenders on Wednesday, February 5 at 7:00 p.m. PST.
