FRISCO, TX - The Texas Legends, presented by Veracruz (visit Veracruz.mx), hosted the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the second of a weekend double-header in which the two teams split wins. The Vipers increased their record to 21-8 after taking home the 123-113 victory.
The Vipers got off to a hot start, going up by as many as 14 in the first quarter. The Legends, behind 11 points from PJ Hairston, powered a comeback to go into halftime tied at 58-all. The two teams kept it close throughout the third, changing control twice with the Vipers at a two-point advantage facing the final 12 minutes. Hairston hit one from long distance to start off the fourth, but the Vipers answered immediately to regain the lead and ultimately take home the win.
Hairston led the Legends in scoring with a game-high 30 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Devin Ebanks added 27 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. The Vipers were led by Tim Ohlbrecht with 29 points and 20 rebounds while Tony Bishop tallied 25 points and 16 boards.
The Legends started February off with a special celebration of Black History Night. Blue Cross Blue Shield provided custom jerseys, and historic NBA and ABA players were honored throughout the evening.
