D-Fenders Lose See-Saw Battle with Idaho

BOISE, ID - The Los Angeles D-Fenders were defeated by the Idaho Stampede 127-123 on Saturday Night at the Century Link Arena.

In the first quarter, the D-Fenders (15-11) showcased an impressive offensive output by shooting 65.4 percent from the floor. Los Angeles' high field goal percentage was aided by 20 points in the paint in the quarter. Despite carrying an 18-point lead into the second frame, the D-Fenders allowed the Stampede (15-12) to gain control with 24 points in the paint of their own in the second period, shaving the Los Angeles lead to six. In total, the D-Fenders shot 52.1 percent from the floor and 45.5 percent from the three-point line in the first half.

Los Angeles struggled to contain Idaho in the third quarter, allowing the Stampede to shoot 72.7 percent from the floor and gain a four-point edge entering the final 12 minutes of play. The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth affair that featured six lead changes and six ties. A Terrence Williams three-point field goal gave the D-Fenders a late two-point lead with just under two minutes to play. However, Idaho would finish the game on a 6-0 run and halt the D-Fenders' four game winning streak.

The D-Fenders were paced by Terrence Williams (26 points, nine rebounds), Shawne Williams (18 points, eight rebounds), C.J. Williams (18 points) and Travis Hyman (16 points, nine rebounds). In addition, Brandon Costner pitched in 20 points off of the bench for Los Angeles.

Kevin Murphy totaled 51 points, which is an NBA D-League season high, and eight rebounds to lead Idaho. Additionally, E.J. Singler (17 points), Derrick Caracter (16 points), Dee Bost (12 points, 10 assists), Dallas Lauderdale (12 points, 14 rebounds) and Dexter Strickland (11 points) finished in double-digits. Pierre Jackson also pitched in 18 assists for the Stampede.

Overall, the D-Fenders allowed Idaho to hit an opponent season-high 55 field goals and rack up an opponent season-high 38 assists on the night. Furthermore, the D-Fenders were out-scored in the paint 76-60 and in fast-break points 18-12.

Los Angeles will now travel back home to take on the Bakersfield Jam on January 5th at 7:00pm, at Toyota Sports Center, in El Segundo, California.
