Frisco RoughRiders News Release

Steve Murphy's two-run home run in the seventh inning vaulted the RoughRiders past the Missions 4-3

The RoughRiders were out-hit, but edged the Missions 4-3 on Wednesday to win their fifth straight. With the 'Riders down by one, Steve Murphy's late two-run homer was the difference in the game. Five Frisco pitchers combined to hold San Antonio to three runs.

San Antonio jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the first frame, but Frisco tied the game at two in the fourth inning when Chad Tracy hit a two-run double to score Marcus Lemon and Dustin Majewski. The Missions took the lead with a run in the fifth, but Frisco answered in the seventh inning when Johnny Whittleman singled followed by Murphy's two-run home run (8) to give the RoughRiders a 4-3 advantage.

Frisco starter Kasey Kiker allowed three runs on five hits over 4.1 innings, walking four and striking out two, but didn't factor into the decision. Brennan Garr (3-3) pitched two scoreless innings out of the bullpen to earn the win for Frisco. Clayton Hamilton pitched just 0.1 inning to earn his third save on the season. San Antonio reliever Gabe DeHoyos (0-2) suffered the loss, giving up Murphy's home run.

Three RoughRiders had multi-hit performances, including Murphy who collected a pair of RBI. Tracy also had two RBI to give him 103 on the season, which ties the Frisco franchise all-time record for a single season. With the RoughRiders win and Midland loss, Frisco is now two games behind the first-place RockHounds.

The RoughRiders will go for their sixth straight victory on Thursday in San Antonio with first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
