ZEBULON, N.C. - Yhoswar Garcia ended a daunting pitcher's duel Tuesday night at Five County Stadium providing the game-winning 2-RBI single in the 8th inning, securing a series-opening win for the Pescados de Carolina against the Fundadores de Fredericksburg, 3-1.

The marvelous matchup on the mound featured 18-year-old Manuel Rodriguez recording seven innings of one-run work, striking out six. Rodriguez matched his season best for innings pitched, striking out the side in the fourth, and retiring the final four he faced.

Fredericksburg countered with Bryan Polanco, who gave up just one run in 5.1 innings of quality work. The Nationals got the scoring started in the 3rd inning with an RBI sac fly from John McHenry.

Luis Castillo provided the early offense for the Mudcats, belting his ninth home run of the season in the 4th inning. The Carolina Mudcats improved to 37-20 with the win, and a league-best 21-8 at Five County Stadium.
