Mudcats Rally Late, Defeat FredNats

ZEBULON, NC - The Carolina Mudcats snapped a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the eighth inning, and took down Fredericksburg 3-1 in the series opener. The Nats are now 30-28, and Carolina is 36-20.

Fredericksburg gave Bryan Polanco a 1-0 lead in the third inning, with a John McHenry sac fly to plate Nate Ochoa.

Luis Castillo got the 'Cats back level with his solo homer in the bottom of the fourth inning, before both pitching staffs posted zeroes through the seventh inning.

The Freddies threatened in the top of the eighth inning, but in the bottom half, Yoshwar Garcia drove in two for the Mudcats with a single.

FXBG went down in order in the ninth, and lost game one 3-1. Jefferson Figueroa (3-0) picked up the win, and Bubba Hall (4-1) suffered his first loss. In game two, Seth Shuman (0-1, 4.50) makes another rehab start for the Nats, against Daniel Corniel (2-2, 4.61) in a 6:30 start.
