Carolina Mudcats News Release
Zebulon, NC- The Carolina Mudcats topped the Chattanooga Lookouts 6-1 in the series finale Sunday afternoon in front of 6,574 fans at Five County Stadium.
Carolina starter Travis Wood (W, 9-3) set a franchise record by winning his ninth consecutive decision. Wood tossed seven shutout innings, striking out eight and walking none. Ruben Medina and Sean Watson combined for the final two innings without allowing an earned run. The Lookouts lone run scored after Justin Sellers reached on a Todd Frazier error in the eighth inning.
The Mudcats scored their first four runs after two were out. Carson Kainer went 3-3 on the afternoon, singling in a runner with two outs in two separate innings. Korey Feiner and Travis Wood each singled in a run with two outs in the fourth inning. Stephen Chapman scored two runs and went 2-4. Shaun Cumberland and Sean Henry scored on a single by Todd Frazier in the seventh inning.
The Mudcats resume play Tuesday night at 8 PM in Huntsville as they begin a five-game series with the Stars.
