Mudcats Postponed Due to Unplayable Field Conditions
July 17, 2009 - Southern League (SL1)
Carolina Mudcats News Release
Zebulon, NC --- Friday night's game between the Carolina Mudcats and Chattanooga Lookouts was postponed due to unplayable field conditions, and rescheduled as part of a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 6:15 PM ET.
A major thunderstorm swept through the region late in the afternoon over a period of several hours prior to the 7:15 PM ET scheduled first pitch. After the tarp was rolled off the field, the outfield was continually worked on by the Mudcats groundscrew to alleviate the standing water. After a series of meetings between the umpires, managers and Mudcats' front office personnel, more time was granted to try to get the outfield into playable condition. However, after over two hours of tireless work, the game was postponed and rescheduled for two seven inning games on Saturday night.
Carolina's homestand concludes Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM ET before the Mudcats head to Huntsville, AL.
