Montgomery Biscuits News Release
MONTGOMERY, AL - As the Biscuits host the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx on Saturday night at Riverwalk Stadium, Steve Carrier will attempt to break the world-record for broken bats in a minute by snapping 24 baseball bats in 60 seconds.
In between innings, Carrier, a native of Dallas, TX, will attempt to break the current world-record of 23 broken bats in 60 seconds. He currently shares the world record, tying it while being featured on the popular television show "Ripley's Believe it or Not." A camera crew will be on-hand to document the attempt, which if successful will become part of the Guinness Book of World Records.
"Bats have been used to break a lot of records at Riverwalk Stadium" quipped Biscuits' Director of Fan Entertainment April Catarella. "However, this will be the first time we purposely break them attempting to become a part of history, and it will be great that our fans can share the experience."
Carrier, who stands 6'4" tall and weighs in at 290 pounds, has previously been featured on ESPN's "World Powerbreaking Championships," where he finished second in the world by crushing two feet of concrete with his forearm. He has also appeared on "Steve Harvey's Big Show" and last season was featured on "America's Got Talent," where he ran through three 2x4s with a flex of his chest while they burst into flames.
Tickets for Saturday's night game are available by logging on to BiscuitsBaseball.com, calling the Biscuits at (334) 323-2255, or visiting the Riverwalk Stadium Box Office located at the intersection of Coosa St. and Tallapoosa St.
The Biscuits continue their five-game series with the Diamond Jaxx on Friday night at 7:05 PM as they host Rays Night at the ballpark. The American League Championship Trophy will be available for viewing and free photos courtesy of Cumulus Broadcasting, along with Rays' mascot Raymond presented by WSFA 12 entertaining throughout the evening. Friday night also marks Alfa Insurance Collectible Poster Series Giveaway #2 featuring Evan Longoria. The first 3,000 fans to the ballpark will receive the giveaway, and all fans will be treated to a Max Fireworks Spectacular following the game.
