Carolina Mudcats News Release
Montgomery, AL --- An eight-run second inning propelled the Montgomery Biscuits past the Carolina Mudcats 11-4 in the series finale at Riverwalk Stadium on Monday night.
After a 19-minute rain delay earlier in the inning, the Biscuits hit three home runs against starter Tom Cochran (L, 7-5) to break the game open. Chris De La Cruz hit a two-run shot four pitches after the delay ended, then Drew Anderson and Leslie Anderson combined for five RBI on a pair of home runs in the second. An error earlier in the inning turned six of the eight runs into unearned runs, and prevented the Mudcats from taking four of five games in the series.
Carolina (16-15) scored three times in the fourth, but the Biscuits countered with three in the bottom half for an 11-3 lead.
The Mudcats fell two games behind first place Tennessee, which defeated Mississippi 10-5 on Monday night.
Travis Webb (5-6) starts Carolina's homestand opener on Wednesday night against Jacksonville at 7:15 PM ET at Five County Stadium.
