The Series vs Winston-Salem -- The Mudcats host Winston-Salem for the second of three sets at Five County Sta- dium this weekend. The Mudcats won the first series 2-1 back in early June. Since the two interstate rivals began play in 2012, the Dash are 27-23 against Carolina, but the Mudcats hold a 14-10 mark in Zebulon.

Last Time Out -- Adam Plutko whiffed nine batters across seven innings and Erik Gonzalez belted a grand slam as the Mudcats clubbed the Winston-Salem Dash 9-2 on Friday night at Five County Stadium. Plutko earned his second win by limiting the Dash to a run on five hits. Gonzalez, Yandy Diaz and Alex Monsalve finished with three hits each. Monsalve drove in three runners, giving him nine RBI over his last five games.

Tonight's Pitching Probables -- Shawn Morimando looks for a return to form tonight as the Mudcats host the Dash for game two of the series. The left-hander allowed three runs in a defeat his last time, the first time since May 8th for both occurrences. For the season Morimando owns the circuit's sixth best ERA of 3.10 and his eight victories are tied for second. Morimando went undefeated (5-0) across nine starts that included his Double-A de- but with Akron from May 18-July 1. The Dash counter with Tyler Danish. The right-hander sparkled in his last outing, shutting out the Myrtle Beach Pelicans on three hits across six innings. He struck out seven. Danish is 2-1 in eight starts with Winston-Salem, but shoulders a 4.29 ERA. In two starts against the Mudcats, Danish is 1-0. He two-hit the Mudcats across six innings on June 3, fanning a season-high eight.

Four and Maybe More -- With Friday's rout of the Dash the Mudcats earned their second four-game winning streak of the season. It took the club five tries to stretch a winning streak to four the first go-around. The Mudcats previous four-gamer came July 1-4. The Mudcats have won seven of their last 10 and 11 of 15.

Top of the Heap -- The Mudcats held onto the top spot in the CL Southern Division thanks to Friday night's vic- tory over Winston-Salem. Carolina has been at the front of the pack on three different occasions this year, a total of four days. Looking towards playoff implications, the Mudcats lead the Dash by two games and sit 4.5 ahead of the Salem Red Sox for the final spot in the SDCS.

Gonzo! -- Erik Gonzalez launched his first career grand slam in the third inning of Friday's game en route to a three-hit night. Over the past five games, Carolina's shortstop has collected 10 RBI to go with a .375 batting aver- age (9x24). After hitting just one home run through the first three months, Gonzalez has two in July. He is hitting .313 since his return from Double-A Akron.

Funky Cold Medina -- Yhoxian Medina extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a RBI-single the second in- ning of Wednesday's game. During his streak, the infielder is hitting .420 (21x50) with nine extra-base hits. He has scored 13 times and plated five. Coupled with six walks, Medina owns a .482 OBP during this stretch.

Chopping Wood -- Carolina's hitters continued to terrorize opposing pitchers this week. The Mudcats have aver- aged eight runs per outing and amassed 61 hits in their last five games. The Mudcats' .267 team average is second in the CL and they rank first in walks (357) and OBP (.350). The team averages 8.9 hits and 4.6 runs per game this year.

Muddy's Tales -- The SweetRight Brothers will be in town to entertain fans of all ages for Saturday's 6 p.m. tilt. Kids Run the Bases, presented by Amerigas, returns with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, July 13 and the series wraps up with a special 11 a.m. start on Monday, July 14.
