NEWS & NOTES:

- About Last Night - The Winston-Salem Dash scored two in the ninth and escaped 7-5. Carolina rallied from a three run deficit to tie the score in the eighth. Jeremie Tice had three hits (two doubles and a home run). Tony Wolters also had a trio of base knocks.

- Wolters Shining - Infielder Tony Wolters increased his average for May to .301 with three hits Saturday. Wolters currently owns a seven game hitting streak with four multi-hit efforts.

- Tice Mashing - Designated hitter Jeremie Tice launched his Carolina League leading 10th home run of the year Saturday. He has a league high 38 RBI. His .311 batting average is 8th, and he's fourth in doubles (14). Tice owns a five game hitting streak entering today.

- Armstrong Dealing -Reliever Shawn Armstrong has allowed two runs on nine hits in 25.0 innings with a fastball topping 100 mph. Opposing batters are hitting a league low .115 against the former ECU Pirate. He has recorded at least one strikeout in all 13 appearances.

- Flores Faltering - After allowing one run over 13 appearances, closer Jose Flores has allowed five runs in his last three outings (2.1 innings). He is 0-2 with one blown save during this stretch.

- Opponents Scoring - The Carolina Mudcats have lost four in a row and eight of 10. During this stretch, opponents are averaging 5.5 runs. The Mudcats have allowed seven runs in each of the last three games. The opposition has scored first in six of the last seven.
