Hill City Howlers News Release

Lynchburg, VA- The Hillcats offense exploded in the seventh with the five-run frame carrying them to a 6-1 win in the series finale with Potomac. It was a solid performance from Dimasther Delgado and a three-run double by Chris Garcia that helped the 'Cats win their second home series versus Potomac.

Scoring was at a premium initiallyin the rubber match between the Potomac Nationals and Lynchburg Hillcats. Dimasther Delgado was efficient for the Hillcats, while his counterpart, Adam Olbrychowski, was clutch when he needed to be.

One of the rare threats early in the day came in the bottom of the second inning when Olbrychowski walked Chris Garcia, Mycal Jones and Chad Comer. However, he got out of the inning when he struck out Matt Lipka.

The Nationals took the lead first in the top of the third thanks to a weak double down the right-field line by Adrian Sanchez. Blake Kelso singled him home with a chalk-gathering hit of his.

Lynchburg answered back in the bottom of the third solely on the back of Nick Ahmed. He started the inning with the 'Cats first hit of the day. Ahmed, then stole second and third. He scored when Olbrychowski bounced a ball in the dirt that skipped away from Erick Fernandez who was behind the plate.

The 1-1 tie was broken in the seventh frame. It would be the Hillcats taking the lead on three consecutive singles to start the inning off Bobby Hansen Jr. He entered for Olbrychowski in the fifth. The three singles were registered by Matt Weaver, Comer and Lipka. It was Lipka's single that scored Weaver to give the Hillcats a 2-1 lead. Lynchburg would build on the lead when back-to-back batters were hit by Joe Testa who entered for Hansen after his struggles.Tommy La Stellatook first after being plunked bya weak curve ball to load the bases. On a nearly identical pitch, Testa hit Adam Milligan. Comer would score to increase the lead to 3-1. Rob Wort would enter for the Nationals in the inning toshut down the offenseof the Hillcats. Wort's deceptive style helped sit down Edward Salcedo, but Garcia was another story. After a battle of the plate, Garcia smacked a three-run double over the head of Kevin Keyes out in left field to break the game open. The 'Cats took a commanding 6-1 lead.

Dimasther Delgado (3-1) won his third consecutive decision. He tied a career-high by going 7.0 innings, scattering five hits, allowing a sole runand walking one. The loss goes to Bobby Hansen Jr.(1-2). He was roughed up for three runs on four hits in his 2.0 innings of work. He also walked and struck out one.
