FIVE ON FIVE: SS Nick Ahmed had his first five-hit game of his career Friday night...Went 5-for-6 with two doubles, an RBI, and a run scored...He had his first four-hit game earlier this season (4/24 @ CAR)...The five-hit outburst gave him a five-game hitting streak in which he was 11-for-23 (.478) with three doubles and five RBI...He raised his batting average 20 points last night, from .262 to .282...Last night, he went 0-for-5 snapping the streak...

EXTRA EXTRA!: OF Mycal Jones hit his first home run of the season last night...His last home run came on August 18, 2011 with Double-A Mississippi...He went exactly 200 at-bats without a home run...He had not even recorded an extra-base hit this season until doubling in the third inning Friday night...Took him 124 at-bats to log a hit other than a single...Since the double he is 5-for-9 with two doubles, a triple, and a home run...Jones had 33 extra-base hits last season in 100 games, and in 2010 he compiled 48, including 15 homers, in 129 games...

ALL THE OTHER BOYS, TRY TO CHASE ME: 2B Tommy La Stella snapped his hitting streak last night at 13 games...Went 0-for-3 with a sacrifice bunt and a hit by pitch last night...The streak started May 12 after he broke an 0-for-17 slide in his final at-bat of the game...Went hitless in three straight games (5/8-5/11)...Prior to that, he had only three games all season in which he didn't have a hit...The 13-game streak is his season-best and the best streak by a Hillcat this year...He batted .314 (16-for-51) during his streak with two home runs, a double, eight RBI, and seven runs scored...
