ZEBULON, NC (May 27, 2012) - The Dash smashed its way to their fourth series sweep of the season with an 8-3 victory over the Carolina Mudcats Sunday afternoon.

Winston-Salem (28-19) sent all nine batters to the plate in a four-run seventh inning that proved to be the difference. With the bases loaded and one out,Michael Earley smashed a high groundball that hopped over third basemen Giovanny Urshela's head to scoreCarlos SanchezandDan Black.Mike BlankeandNick Ciollithen each drove in a run and Winston led 6-3.

The Dash loaded the bases again in the eighth, and Blanke recorded his second RBI of the game to scoreDaniel Wagner for a 7-3 lead. Wagner extended his hit streak to 12 games after doubling to lead off the ninth. Sanchez followed with a single to plate Wagner to cap the scoring.

Carolina (22-26) tallied the first run of the game in its first trip to the plate. The Mudcats walked three times in the first inning to load the bases. Jake Lowery drew a two-out walk to plate Tyler Holt for the 1-0 lead.

Dan Black tied the game at 1-1 with a towering blast over the right field fence to lead off the fourth. Black's third home run of the series pushed him into a tie for first place with Carolina's Jeremie Tice. Both men have recorded 10 round-trippers this season.

The Mudcats again walked three times in the fourth to load the bases. With one out, Dash relieverStephen McCray(1-0) replaced starterJon Bachanovand set down the first two batters he faced, stranding three Carolina runners in the process. Dash pitchers forced the Mudcats into stranding 13 men on base, holding Carolina to 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position.

Winston-Salem broke a tie game in the fifth. The first two batters were set down, but, with two outs, the Dash worked three consecutive walks to load the bases. Earley smacked an infield single to bring home Carlos Sanchez and give the Dash a 2-1 lead.

The Dash return home to BB&T Ballpark for an eight-game homestand beginning with a Memorial Day doubleheader against the Frederick Keys. Right-handerRyan Buch(2-5, 5.90 ERA) gets the ball in game one. Frederick sends right-hander Scott Copeland (2-3, 5.24 ERA) to the mound.
