NEWS & NOTES:

- Couldn't Stand the Weather - The Frederick Keys downed the Carolina Mudcats 7-2 in a seven inning, rain-shortened affair on Wednesday night. Kyle Blair was rocked for seven runs in 2.1 innings. Delvi Cid belted his first home run of the year.

- Boom Bappa Boom - Designated hitter Jeremie Tice leads the CL with 36 RBI, and is the active home run leader (9). The slugger is batting .323 with runners on base, and .571 when the bases are loaded.

- Pride and Joy - Center fielder Tyler Holt has put together a nine game hitting streak. He has reached safely in 29 of 30 games, including 20 in a row at one point. Holt leads the Carolina League with six triples. His batting average (.307) is 10th in the league, his on-base percentage of .402 is 5th overall, is 5th in runs scored (28), and tied for 5th in stolen bases (11).

- Cold Shot -Reliever Shawn Armstrong has allowed only one run on eight hits in 23.0 innings. Opposing batters are hitting a league low .111 against the former ECU Pirate. He has recorded at least one strikeout in all 12 appearances.

- Scuttle Buttin' - The Mudcats boast a 19-1 record when leading after seven innings. However, they are 1-20 when trailing after seven. Carolina is a league-best 12-3 when scoring first. On the other hand, they are a league worst 5-9 in one run games.
