Carolina Mudcats (31-35) at Salem Red Sox (38-27)

NEWS & NOTES:

- About Last Night - The Mudcats beat Lynchburg 7-2 behind a solid outing from Kyle Blair and a monster night for Anthony Gallas. Blair tossed five innings, allowing one run on two hits. Gallas drove in four on three hits, including his fifth home run. Delvi Cid and Tony Wolters had a pair of hits.

- A Flare for Blair - Pitcher Kyle Blair won his fourth straight decision by tossing a two-hitter over five relief frames against Lynchburg. His only real blemish was a fourth inning solo shot by Braeden Schlehuber. His ERA is 2.34 over his last 5 outings (5 runs in 19.2 innings).

- Streaking - A trio of Mudcats extended their hitting streaks on Wednesday night. Anthony Gallas has hit safely in four straight, batting .538 (7x13) with 2 home runs and 5 RBI. Giovanny Urshela and Tony Wolters have a knock in three straight.

- New Bern All-Star - Former ECU Pirate Shawn Armstrong continued his dominating first half by tossing a scoreless ninth on Wednesday. Through 32 innings in relief, Armstrong has allowed only four runs. He is second on the team with 40 strikeouts. His .170 batting average against ranks second among league relievers.

- The Kid - Infielder Tony Wolters continues an upward trend. After hitting .130 in April, the 20-year-old hit .294 in May with 7 doubles, a triple and his second professional home run. But in June, Wolters has cracked four doubles already, hustled out three triples, and plated seven runs.
