Mudbugs Fly Past Ice Bats, 5-1

BOSSIER CITY, LA -- Three unanswered goals set the pace for the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs who ousted the Austin Ice Bats 5-1 on Saturday night at Century Tel Center.

Karlis Zirnis opened up the scoring as he split the defense and fired a backhand shot by Austin goaltender Miguel Beaudry. The Bugs then capitalized right off a faceoff as Jason Williamson fed the puck forward to Kyle Musselman who one-timed it in for his third goal of the season, giving the Mudbugs a 2-0 lead.

Dan Wildfong found the back of the net in the second period when his shot deflected off the goaltender Beaudry and into the net. Henry Kuster spoiled the shutout for John DeCaro, banging in a rebound and putting Austin on the board. The Bugs regained a three goal lead when Jason Basile streaked up the wing and scored a shorthanded goal.

Chris Brassard added another goal as Jason Williamson fed Brassard from the wing, the Austin defense was nowhere to be found as Brassard netted the easy tap in goal. The Bugs rolled on matched their largest margin of victory this season, cruising to a four goal win.
