Wichita Thunder News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA- The Wichita Thunder lost 5-1 to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs at the Century Tel Center on Saturday night. The Mudbugs carved out a 3-0 lead before the end of the first period. At 3:08, James DeLory re-directed Mark Johnson's shot from the point past the right of Scott Campbell for the first goal of the game. Joe Blaznek connected on a one-on-one play at 9:30, using a wrist shot through Campbell's five-hole. Bossier made it 3-0 at 12:28 on a one-timer from the blue line by Chris St. Croix. Travis Clayton made the pass to St. Croix at the point.

The Thunder stayed within three through the second period, helped by two key plays by Thunder defensemen. Brad Thompson, who has played back each of the last three games, broke up a straight pass through the slot on a clear two-on-one for the Mudbugs. Later in the period, new defenseman AJ Bozoian stripped a puck from a Mudbugs' shooter on what appeared to be a sure rebound attempt.

Bossier broke open the game with two goals in the third. Tyrel Lucas scored on a shot from the outside at 2:34. Just over four minutes later, Jeff Kyrzakos made it 5-0. Scott Campbell poke checked the puck off of Kyrzakos' stick as he was driving to the net. The puck bounced straight into the air and landed over Campbell's right shoulder. Tomas Klempa broke up the shutout with a goal at 9:18. Klempa deflected Jason Woll's shot from the point past Bugs' goaltender Ken Carroll.

Campbell stopped 29 of 34 in the loss. Carroll was 22 of 23 in the win. Wichita was 0 for 6 on the power play while going 3 for 3 on the penalty kill.

The Thunder returns home on Sunday for a 5:05 p.m. match against the Texas Brahmas. For tickets, call the Thunder office at (316) 264-GOAL.
