Jacks Fall to Texas, 3-1

Odessa Jackalopes News Release

(N. Richland Hills, TX) - Brett Jaeger stopped 35 shots to carry the Texas Brahmas to a 3-1 win over the Odessa Jackalopes on Saturday night at the NYTEX Sports Centre. The loss drops Odessa's record to 38-10-4 on the season, making the Jackalopes the last team in the CHL to lose double-digit games in regulation this season.

All the scoring came in the third period as Texas took a 1-0 lead when a bad-angle feed from the left-wing corner snuck into the net at 7:16. Scott Thauwald was credited with goal. Lee Jubinville then made it 2-0 for the Brahmas at 9:00 after a confusing play. Tyler Skowrchinski fell over in front of the goal crease and was sitting on top of the puck as players for both teams searched. Jubinville eventually found it before anyone else and slipped it home.

Mike Lesperance cut the deficit in half on the power play just 38 seconds later after taking the puck the length of the ice and snapping a wrist shot past Jaeger for Odessa's only goal of the game. Skworchinski added an empty net marker in the final minutes for the 3-1 final.

Joel Martin stopped 32 saves in the loss. Odessa finishes the season going 2-2-0 against the Brahmas. Sebastien Thinel's point streak came to an end at 10 games.

The Jackalopes return home for a weekend pair against the Amarillo Gorillas for the team's "Legends' Weekend" event. Friday's game begins at 7:05 PM and the action can be heard on 102.1 Jack FM.

The Odessa Jackalopes are the Central Hockey League affiliate for the NHL's New York Islanders and the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The team is in the middle of their 13th season in the Permian Basin. Season tickets, mini-plans, and single game tickets are available by calling (432) 552-PUCK or visiting jackalopes.org.
