Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

YOUNGSTOWN, OH -- The Mudbugs sought to add to the four points separating them from Youngstown when they faced the SteelHounds for the second night in a row on Saturday. Great goaltending and defense pushed the Mudbugs to a 2-1 victory.

The Mudbugs battled through a physical first period. Quade Lightbody dropped the gloves with Dallas Anderson giving the Mudbugs a surge of momentum. Jason Basile's wrist shot later beat Brad Roberts to put the Bugs on top by a goal. Chris Abbott then scored on the power play, picking the top right corner.

There was no scoring in the second period but plenty of rough stuff. Dan Wildfong was involved in a skirmish with Dallas Anderson, Wildfong was tossed out on a game misconduct for slashing while Dallas Anderson left on a game misconduct for elbowing.

The Mudbugs skated with a short bench in the third period stopping Youngstown on the power play time and time again. Garrett Larson spoiled John DeCaro's shutout late in the third, but the Bugs held on for another one goal victory.
