Big Crowd Sees Big Fights but a Hounds Loss to Mudbugs

Youngstown SteelHounds News Release

Saturday night saw the biggest crowd and the biggest fights of the season at the Chevy Centre but it would go all for not as Youngstown would lose their second in a row to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs by a score of 2-1 in front of nearly 4,000 people.

The action got started heavy and often as Youngstown's Dallas Anderson got into a brawl with the Bugs Quade Lightbody at 18:01 of the first period, this right after Bossier-Shreveport took a 1-0 lead on a Jason Basile goal. The visiting Bugs would score again right after the fight when Chris Abbott put in a power play goal to end the period 2-0.

That would be all Bossier-Shreveport would need as Mudbug net minder John Decaro would do the rest stopping 30 of 31 Y-Town shots with Garrett Larson getting the lone goal with four minutes to play in the game. For Larson it is second goal in just two nights as a Youngstown SteelHound.

The fighting though continued through the night with Dallas Anderson and the Mudbugs Dan Wildfong getting ejected late in the second period. Wildfong and Anderson nearly fought in the penalty box after the altercation was over. This all happened after Y-Town's Mark Johnson laid out Milan Vodrazka after a devastating punch.

Unfortunately for Youngstown while they won the fights, they lost the game and now drop six points back of Bossier-Shreveport for second place in the Northeast division. The Mudbugs improved to 20-10-5 for 45 points with Youngstown dropping to 16-13-7 and 39 points. The SteelHounds return to action next Friday night when they host the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees at 7:05pm at the Chevrolet Centre.
