Mudbugs Are "Messin' with Texas" this Weekend
March 3, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
BOSSIER CITY, LA - Get ready for the hardest hitting, most action-packed weekend of Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs hockey you ¬â¢ll experience this season as we host three straight home games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the CenturyTel Center! For all three games the ¬ËBugs will face rivals from across the state line in Texas: the Laredo Bucks on Friday, the Allen Americans on Saturday and the Texas Brahmas on Sunday.
As the Mudbugs face-off with the Laredo Bucks for the last time this season Friday at 7:05, we ¬â¢re teaming up with Willis-Knighton Sports Medicine to "Power the Cure". The goal is to raise awareness about head and neck cancer, which is directly attributed to the use of tobacco products. Along with Willis-Knighton Sports Medicine and Cancer Center, helping to make the event possible are special guest Jennifer Bland and the Jason Bland "Power the Cure" Foundation.
We ¬â¢re asking fans to get involved in the theme by wearing purple to Friday ¬â¢s game as we promote education about head and neck cancer, including safe alternatives to tobacco. Willis-Knighton is also providing chewing gum with the message "Chew on This", which will be handed out to fans as they exit the arena Friday night. There will also be a public skating session following Friday ¬â¢s game.
Saturday at 7:05 against Allen, we ¬â¢ll be welcoming groups from churches all over the Ark-La-Tex for our annual "Pucks N ¬â¢ Prayers" night, also presented by Willis-Knighton. This fun worship-related outing will be capped off by a special post-game performance from the Simple Church band, which will begin playing immediately following the Mudbugs game against the Americans.
Sunday at 4:05 we ¬â¢ll finish off the weekend with another great rivalry game against the Texas Brahmas. Many Simple Church attendees will be on hand for our "Simple Sunday Spectacular", which is also our last Sunday afternoon home game of the season. To celebrate the finale of this huge weekend, we ¬â¢re offering bronze level walk-up tickets to Sunday ¬â¢s game for just $9.00! That ¬â¢s 40% off the regular box office price! We ¬â¢ll also be hosting another public skating session after game for a cost of just $6.00 including skate rental.
