
Dayton's Jeff Jakaitis Named Sher-Wood Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Month

TEMPE, AZ (March 3, 2011) -The Central Hockey League announced today that Jeff Jakaitis of the Dayton Gems has been named the Sher-Wood Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Month for February/2011. Jakaitis will receive a Sher-Wood/CHL logoed watch courtesy of Sher-Wood and the Central Hockey League to recognize his accomplishment.

Jakaitis made the most of his five appearances during the month winning four of them with the only blemish coming on a 34-save performance on February 12 versus Fort Wayne that saw his team fall 2-0. The highlights of the month for the Rochester, Minnesota native were a 52-save overtime win (2-1) at Evansville on February 11 and a 37-save shutout win over Fort Wayne on February 27.
The netminder also won his first AHL game during the month while on call-up with the Worcester Sharks thanks to a 29-save 4-3 shootout win over Providence on February 20. Jakaitis was with the Sharks from February 15-24.
On the season, the 5-10, 165-pound goalie is 20-17-3 ranking third in the league with a 2.57 goals against average and is second with a .929 save percentage. In 19 of 40 starts, the 2011 CHL All-Star has held the opposition to two goals or fewer.
Other players receiving consideration for the monthly award for February include Allen's Chris Whitley, Bloomington's Brad Phillips, Colorado's Kyle Jones, Fort Wayne's Kevin Reiter, Missouri's Robby Nolan, Rapid City's Danny Battochio and Texas' Wayne Savage.
