
Mud Hens Beat Braves

Toledo, OH - The Toledo Mud Hens beat the Richmond Braves 10-3 Monday at Fifth Third Field. The Mud Hens scored four runs in the first inning and Dane Sardinha hit three home runs as the Hens coasted to their third straight win over the Braves.
Toledo chased Braves starting pitcher Blaine Boyer out in the first inning. Erick Almonte smacked a two run homer, David Espinosa knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly and Dane Sardinha drew a bases loaded walk. The Braves responded with a run in the second on a homer by Brent Lillibridge. Sardinha homered in the third to stretch the Hens lead to 5-1. Brandon Jones produced a run with a fielder's choice in the fifth to trim the Hens advantage to 5-3. Sardinha smacked his second homer of the night in the sixth and hit a three run blast in the seventh to make it 10-2. The Braves pushed a run across in the ninth on a ground out by Iker Franco.
Ron Chiavacci earned the win. Boyer took the loss. Lillibridge had two his for the Braves. Sardinha drove in seven runs.
The Braves and Toledo conclude their series at Fifth Third Field Tuesday at 12 PM. Dan Smith will pitch for Richmond against Jordan Tata. The Braves return home Wednesday for a 6 PM doubleheader vs. Indianapolis.
